LANGLEY, B.C. (April 6, 2009) – A new manager with ground-up experience, a rejuvenated product line and new marketing will help support the ambitious growth plans of Yokohama Tire (Canada) Inc. in the fiercely competitive market for off-the-road (OTR) tires in 2009.

Herbert Humby, a veteran of two decades in the OTR field, including hands-on experience in service, sales and logistics, has been named National OTR Specialist at Yokohama Canada. Humby will play a key role in developing new markets for the Yokohama line of bias- and radial-ply specialty tires and help existing customers maximize the cost-efficiency of their tire investments.

“We know that times like this put real pressure on fleet managers in mining, forestry, construction and similar industries. Yokohama has a great story to tell with our products, and we have a deep understanding of how to get long life and operating efficiency in the rugged, real world environments where these tires work,” says Humby, who started his career changing and serving tires in the field.

Humby brings a degree in business administration and experience in dealer operations to his new position. He will be based at the Yokohama Canada Central Zone Office in Mississauga, Ontario, and report to the Director of Sales.

The expansion of the Yokohama line of radial-ply OTR tires comes at an opportune time, says Jonathon Karelse, Marketing Manager of Yokohama Canada. “From rigid and articulated dump trucks to cranes and front-end loaders, the heat management, low rolling resistance and increase load capacity of specialty radial tires expand the choices we can provide our OTR clients,” says Karelse.

This expansion of Yokohama’s radial OTR line-up adds more than 40 sizes and configurations, joining the well-respected line-up of bias-ply tires to create a comprehensive product array of more than 200 choices.

The company will back its growth plans with aggressive marketing and sales support.
